CoatOSil DRI waterborne silicone may be considered for use as a co-binder for the modification of latex resins in coatings, or as a sole binder when thermal and UV resistance need to be maximized.  CoatOSil DRI waterborne silicone is compatible with many acrylic, styrene acrylic and PUD resin systems. It is finding the most use where there is a desire to increase the thermal, UV, water resistance or elongation properties of a coating system. CoatOSil DRI waterborne silicone has the following features and typical benefits when used in latex systems:                                      

  • Reduced water uptake
  • Increased UV resistance
  • Increased thermal resistance
  • Increased flexibility and elongation
  • Excellent compatibility 

CoatOSil DRI waterborne silicone may find additional applications in both low PVC and high PVC (matte) paint formulations.  In fact, in a satin PVC formulation, tests showed improvements in gloss retention, and decreases in both color fading and water absorption.
