In fact, insulation varnishes employing TSR117 coating have met class H insulation requirements for electrical devices. TSR117 silicone coating can be cured at high temperature; or, with the help of a catalyst, undergo low-temperature cure and room-temperature drying.

More About TSR117 Silicone

TSR117 silicone resin is a methylphenyl silicone solution in xylene, which cures to medium hardness. In mechanical film testing, a film of 30 - 40 µm thickness cured at high temperature demonstrated hardness (Sward rocker test) of 50 and Erichsen indication of 8 mm. Good results were obtained in cross cut adhesion tests, and a bend test demonstrated flexibility when the sample was over a 3 mm diameter mandrel.

As an insulating varnish, TSR117 silicone coating has been used to make flexible mica and glass mica tapes and sheets for Class H insulation of electrical devices. It can also be considered for use as a coil impregnating material. For flexible mica and glass mica sheets, TSR117 silicone coating  generally can be applied by dipping, brushing or spraying.
