IMPROVED SLIP, GOOD COMPATIBILITY
The CoatOSil 2816, 2817, 2818 and 2819 coating additives series offers varying degrees of slip performance benefits. To date, coatings for wood, leather goods, industrial and auto refinishing, as well as overprint varnishes and inks, have benefited from the excellent slip and mar resistance features of the CoatOsil serieswhen incorporating the appropriate grade. This broad-ranging set of applications demonstrates the compatibility of this series with solvent-borne, water-borne, and UV/EB cured systems, and itsbalanced silicone/polyether chemistry is the root of this application flexibility.
CoatOSil 2816, 2817, 2818 and 2819 coating additives have a relatively balanced level of polyethylene oxide (EO), polypropylene oxide (PO) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) in its linear methyl end-capped ABA molecular structure. Compatibility with water-borne formulations is supported by the EO component; compatibility with solvent-borne formulations is supported by the PO component; and slip and mar resistance are enabled primarily by the PDMS (silicone) component. In the CoatOSil 2816, 2817 2818 and 2819 additive series, slip characteristics rise with product number. Slip properties variation are described as follows:
CoatOSil 2816 additive < CoatOSil 2817 additive < CoatOSil 2818 additive < CoatOSil 2819 additive.
