Connector Seals
Nowhere are finely tuned LSR formulations more important than in the use of automotive electronics applications. Today’s cars can contain 250 or more connection points between the wire-harness and the E/E devices. For reliable lifetime functionality, the majority of these connectors are sealed with a silicone elastomer. To ease assembly and insertion, most of the seals are equipped to release a lubricating oil over time. Momentive Silopren* LSR 3000 family of self-lubricating LSRs has a long track record of success with all major tiers and OEMs for use in single-wire seals, radial seals, and matseal systems and family-seals used in electrical connector applications. New grades are available with low volatile level, low compression set or high long-term heat stability.
