FSL 7586/40

Flurosilicone LSR – Self-lubrication

FSL 7586/40 is a two-component liquid silicone rubber for injection molding processes. FSL 7586/40 is based on a fluorosilicone co-polymer and has an improved resistance vs oil, grease, diesel and many unipolar solvents. This material is an excellent candidate to consider for the manufacture of seals and gaskets in electrical connectors in the automotive industry, where the connector is placed inside a system like a gearbox or is otherwise exposed to chemicals under the hood.

More About FSL 7586/40

Demanding application in automotive electrical applications are exposed to higher heat over a longer time with advancements in engine technology and reduced packaging size.  Sensors, electronics and other contact points can be inside parts of the engine or gearbox and therefore be exposed to grease, oil fuels and other fluids. FSL 7586/40 has much better suitability for those environments like conventional silicone LSRs.

FSL 7586/40 is a self-lubricating material and exudes a lubrication fluid after molding of the parts, easing assembly of cable and connectors. It has a nominal hardness of 40 Shore A and can be processed on conventional LSR equipment and achieves its physical properties without post-curing and without additives. The material has a whitish appearance and can be easily pigmented with LSR color-pastes available from Momentive. Similar but dry - not selflubricating – FSL products are available in hardness of 40, 50 and 60 Shore A.
