Coronavirus Update

Momentive Performance Materials continues to monitor developments regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.  As cases continue to rise across the globe, our main goal continues to be ensuring the safety of our employees and suppliers while minimizing the impact of the virus to our customers.

 

Our People

We take very seriously our responsibility to keep our people as safe as possible and have been aggressive in our actions to keep our people and operations from being impacted by the virus.


Our Operations

Momentive continues its operations around the world. We are an essential business that provides critical chemicals and materials for components that enable a wide range of medical devices, health care applications, and life-saving equipment that are used to fight and treat this pandemic. All sites are fully operational and have activated crisis response teams, which are prepared to address multiple scenarios.

 

Preventive Measures

  • All sites have employed social distancing strategies – including splitting technical teams, where appropriate to ensure fewer people are working at the same time, enhanced control room and break room safeguards, and all employees have been asked to use teleconference or video conference for meetings.
  • Our sites have limited external visitors, and many have, to the extent legally allowed, instituted active screening, such as routine questionnaires and temperature checks.
  • Non-operations personnel continue to practice work from home strategies, where deemed necessary around the world.
  • Enhanced sanitation, disinfecting processes and active screening protocols continue, including temperature checks for individuals entering most operational sites.
  • Interactions with visitors and vendors have been limited to only those absolutely necessary.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been provided to employees at all sites.
  • All Momentive travel has been restricted to critical business needs only, and in most regions only with express approval by a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Talent Acquisition has moved to virtual interviews with all candidates globally, using video technology. 
  • Education and awareness on preparedness and prevention has been provided to all employees.  We are requesting that all employees:
    • Wash their hands regularly and thoroughly, and avoid touching their eyes, nose, or mouth.
    • Clean and disinfect common areas regularly.
    • Avoid personal contact, such as shaking hands.
    • Avoid public transportation.
    • Avoid large gatherings.
    • Practice an abundance of caution and stay home if they feel sick.

 

Communication

  • Regular updates are communicated to employees globally through an executive leadership global crisis management process that is coordinated with teams present at each site.
  • Sites are in routine communication with local employees, providing updates and education.
  • The Commercial and Supply Chain teams are in regular contact with customers and suppliers to keep them updated on key developments.
  • Global leaders meet regularly to share best practices and stay up to date with one another and the developing situation.
  • The Executive Leadership Team meets multiple times a week to assess the situation and any effect on employees and customers.
