Silopren™ LSR 3696/25 Liquid Silicone Rubber

Low Modulus – Self-Lubrication

Silopren LSR 3696/25 is a two-component liquid silicone rubber for injection molding processes. Silopren LSR 3696/25 offers very low modulus paired with excellent low compression set and tear resistance properties. This material has found excellent use in the manufacture of family seals or matseals in automotive electrical connectors, where cable and contact assembly is causing defective parts.

More About Silopren™ LSR 3696/25 Liquid Silicone Rubber

Automotive electrical applications are increasingly exposed to higher heat over a longer time period and with reduced package sizes, with advancements in engine technology. At the same time, higher expectations forvehicle reliability and service life lead to more demanding specifications, especially long-term sealing force and temperature stability. Electrical connectors have to accomodate more and more signal cables where the available space remains the same. Therefore, single wire seals are often replaced through family- or matseals.

While these parts have typically require  low modulus HCR compounds in order to pass the demands of the contact assembly, Silopren LSR 3696/25 is able to fulfil the typical industry specifications for this application while, being a liquid silicone rubber by nature,  allowing for the advantage of the LSR injection molding process to be realized.

Silopren LSR 3696/25 with a hardness of 25 Shore A can be processed on conventional LSR equipment and achieve its physical properties without post-curing and without the requirement of additional additives. The material has a whitish appearance and can be easily pigmented with LSR color-pastes available from Momentive. Similar products are available in hardness of 30 and 35 Shore A.
