ALBANY, N.Y., March 31, 2010 — Momentive Performance Materials has been selected to receive a

$918,000 Third Frontier Advanced Materials Program grant by the State of Ohio, to commercialize the

next generation of material for boron-nitride polymer composites for use in LED lighting. The Third

Frontier program is aimed at helping Ohio-based companies develop and bring to market advanced

materials for use in future applications.

Momentive’s Strongsville, Ohio team will collaborate with PolymerOhio, Steer America, the University of

Akron, and SABIC Innovative Plastics to commercialize the next generation of material for boron-nitride

polymer composites, enabling the manufacturing of simpler, lower cost, highly tailored LED housing

products for LED lighting device manufacturers.

a competitive review and will now move into the formal distribution phase.

Established in 2002, The Third Frontier Advanced Materials Program focuses on accelerating the

development and growth of the advanced materials industry and its supply chain in Ohio. The program

supports the commercialization of new products, manufacturing processes or technologies; the

adaptation or modification of existing materials or components to address issues including cost, size,

weight, strength, resistance to the environment, and durability; and the addressing of technical and

commercialization barriers.
