AC161 SPBK is an addition curing HCR black silicone rubber compound that offers good mechanical properties, low compression set and high heat resistance, in addition to excellent electrical properties. This custom compound can be used for injection molding with short cycle time and offers particular benefits for technical parts e.g. sparkplug boots and protective hoses in the automotive area.

Description

Increased engine efficiency triggers the need for new ignition systems with higher voltage exceeding even 40 kV. Higher expectations for vehicle reliability and service life lead to loftier specification levels, especially for long-term sealing force and temperature stability. This can cause problems with many conventional rubber compounds developed for this application, such as silicone or EPDM, while AC 161 SPBK is working successfully in many of these high-performance systems currently.

AC 161 SPBK is supplied ready-to use, or as a 2-component material with much longer shelf-life. It can be processed on conventional HCR injection molding equipment, and can achieve its physical properties without post-curing. The material follows one global standard and is available worldwide through Momentive custom elastomer sites in Europe, US, China and Brazil.
