Momentive Hardcoats for Weatherstrip Coatings

Weatherstrip coatings are thin flexible films applied to dynamic automotive gasket seals typically made from EPDM rubber, such as primary and secondary door seals, trunk roof and auxiliary seals. The function of a weatherstrip coating is to provide freeze release, low coefficient of friction, weatherability, abrasion resistance and elimination of friction related noises, while maintaining a smooth, even surface with good haptics. Momentive’s water-based, primerless coatings, formulated without PFAS, provide a resilient protective film that will increase the performance and help extend the lifetime of automotive weatherstrip seals. Our coating solutions improve the water-repellency and freeze-release characteristics of the weatherstrip seal, which is essential during winter months.
