CoatOSil™ MP 200 Silane

Limited voc emissions, compatibility with water and solvent-borne applications

Add to Favorites

CoatOSil MP 200 silane has inherently beneficial properties for both solvent-borne and water-borne systems, and can help to significantly reduce methanol emissions as compared to  most monomeric epoxy silanes. It promotes adhesion through its ability to react with various organic functionalities and bonds well to many inorganic substrates. Systems to consider for CoatOSil MP 200 silane include: polysulfide, urethane, epoxy and acrylic caulks, sealants, adhesives and coatings

Description

CoatOSil MP 200 silane promotes adhesion in a broad range of applications via multiple epoxy and silane groups on each oligomer chain. Its gamma-gylcidoxy propyl epoxide ring reacts with many organic groups while its alkoxy silane groups promote adhesion to most inorganic substrates. Condensation of its silanol groups can also provide crosslinks between polymer chains.

As a 100 percent active material, CoatOSil MP 200 silane can be used at relatively low levels in water-based, solvent-borne or high-solids systems.

The addition of CoatOSil MP 200 silane can facilitate the development of formulations with:

  • Improved wet and dry adhesion
  • Good storage stability
  • Improved corrosion resistance and enhanced mechanical properties of coatings, adhesives and sealants
  • Lower VOC levels than typical monomeric silanes

Key Features and Typical Benefits

The gamma-glycidoxy propyl epoxide ring available in CoatOSil MP 200 silane can react with many different organic functionalities, while the alkoxy silane groups still available on the oligomeric structure typically bond strongly to inorganic substrates. The hydrolytic stability of CoatOSil MP 200 silane offers greater support of increased shelf life than normalmost traditionaltraditionalnormal monomeric silanes, and can thus provide better durability in solvent borne systems. Its ability to be hydrolyzed under specific hydrolysis conditions, makesCoatOSil MP 200 silane broadly compatible with waterborne systems.
