When mixed by an extrusion process with TSR9000 silicone resin, plastic resins (such as polycarbonate) can be made to exhibit a white milky appearance that can bend or diffuse light rather than reflect light. This can enable fabrication of plastic parts that use a light source on the back side of the part. In addition, it typically maintains excellent heat stability that can withstand the plastic extrusion process. Because of the short distance from the light source to the diffusion sheet, TSR9000 silicone resin may also support the design of lighting fixtures that operate under very higher temperatures during their servicable life.

Compared to the RI of 1.59 typical of many standard polycarbonate resins, , TSR9000 silicone resin offers an RI of 1.42, which can allow for lower dosages to be used, and thus lead to lower costs.

TSR9000 silicone resin is manufactured with a standard particle size diameter of 2µ, but can be made available in other particle sizes for more precise design and better tuning of optical properties.
