Silquest Y-5997 silane may be found in many typical glass-fiber size and coating formulations. It is compatible with other components in these formulations such as film formers, antistatic agents and surfactants. Silquest Y-5997 silane is a 100% actives methacrylamido functional silane adhesion promoter which has the ability to 'couple' between a wide range of resins, substrates and reinforcements.
A nonflammable, noncombustible and solventless coupling agent, Silquest Y-5997 silane may offer low VOC emissions.
Silquest Y-5997 silane has also been shown to improve the hygrothermal aging properties of glass fiber and particulate filler-reinforced composites. Its glass-fiber protection is known throughout the industry for improving strand integrity that may result in better fiber processing and composite fabrication under certain conditions.
