Improved bonding between resins and substrates, with the aid of our Silquest A-186 silane adhesion promoter, can result in better electrical and/or mechanical properties in a variety of applications and industries. From enhancing electronic encapsulants to enabling improved sealant formulations, Silquest A-186 silane provides both epoxy and silane functionalities that promote adhesion in a range of formulations, including SPUR+ prepolymer, urethane, epoxy, silicone, and acrylic caulks, coatings, sealants and adhesives.

Description

The epoxy functionality of Silquest A-186 silane can react with a variety of organic functionalities, offering low yellowing adhesion in many resin systems. The trimethoxy silane functionality has a fast hydrolysis rate which can help accelerate the attainment of final properties.

With a combination of functionalities Silquest A-186 silane can help deliver numerous property enhancements to formulations, including:

  • Bonding between resin and substrate or filler, and determent of water ingress and/or surface corrosion in electronic encapsulants and packaging materials, thereby supporting the stability of electrical properties and the reduced risk of electronic component failure
  • Substrate adhesion in many water-borne acrylic and vinyl-acrylic caulks, adhesives and coatings.
  • Adhesion to glass and metal substrates for epoxy, urethane and acrylic-based adhesives, sealants and caulks
  • Adhesion with minimized yellowing in SPUR+ prepolymer applications
  • Shelf stability and adhesion to glass and metal substrates in urethane applications
  • Wet and dry adhesion, tensile strength and water resistance in quartz-filled epoxy encapsulants, sand-filled epoxy concrete repair materials, and metal-filled epoxy resins for mold die tools
