A silicone gum master batch enhanced with a modified polycarbonate carrier, PEarlene SiPC MB01 silicone is used to improve extrusion rates, mold fill, hydrophobicity and energy efficiency. With its ability to guard against mar and scratch damage while enhancing impact resistance, PEarlene SiPC MB01 silicone is used in the extrusion of plastics, copolymers and elastomeric formulations. When used in PET fiber board application PEarlene SiPC MB01 can improve hydrophobicity of automotive wheel lines and other under-body fiberboard parts resulting in lower mud and ice pickup. A fully functional master batch possessing high levels of ultra-high molecular weight polysiloxane, PEarlene SiPC MB01 silicone is melted into a compound for use as a polymer carrier.

Description

PEarlene silicone containing masterbatches offer improved processability (extrusion rate, mold fill and energy consumption) and performance (mar and scratch resistance and impact resistance) when used to compound or extrude certain plastics, copolymers or elastomeric formulations.

With a typical product usage range of 0.2% to 1.6%, PEarleneSiPC MB01 silicone master batches modify the rheological characteristics of resins and compounds. This process can enable an increase of throughput within fabrication processes as well as a reduction in drive torque and machine head pressure.

PEarlene SiPC MB01 silicone can also improve lubricity of fabricated parts as well as mar and impact resistance, which can lead to cost savings via a reduction in scrap. In PET fiberboards for under-the-body applications, PEarlene SiPC MB01 improves mud and ice build up due to ehnaced hydrophlicity and may be a more sustainable alternative for harmful fluoro additives.
