EFFICIENT SILICONE FOAM STABILIZER FOR COOL-STORE APPLICATIONS

Niax silicone L-6895 surfactant is an excellent candidate to consider for use in production of insulation foams for refrigerators and other cool-store applications. Typically providing good pentane solubility, low thermal conductivity and low void formation, Niax silicone L-6895 can enable high use levels of pentane in formulation. This can, in turn, provide extremely fine cells, which promotes low thermal conductivity.

Niax silicone L-6895 enables switching from c-pentane to less soluble grades such as iso- or n-pentane - generally without any haziness or phase separation problems. Niax silicone L-6895 typically demonstrates low thermal conductivity with cyclopentane, along with a mixture of cyclopentane and other hydrocarbons.

Niax silicone L-6895 promotes exceptional foam flow and even density distribution. It can significantly reduce void formation, which is particularly evident at the foam surface and end-flowing foams sections. The combined effect on fine cells and void reduction can help deliver foam with low thermal conductivity in the whole foamed cabinet, which in turn can promote overall energy savings.

  • Extremely fine cells and, therefore, low thermal conductivity with cyclopentane as well as mixtures of cyclopentane and other hydrocarbons, HFCs or HFOs.
  • Very good compatibility of hydrocarbons in polyol blends, enabling the use of high levels of pentane or the switch from c-pentane to less soluble grades such as iso- or n-pentane, without haziness or phase separation problems
