Niax* Silicone L-6186

Compatible Surfactant - Rigid Open Cells

Developed for manufacturing open-cell, rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foam products, Niax silicone L-6186 functions primarily as a nonhydrolyzable silicone copolymer. Contributing to cell stabilization and cell opening in water-blown rigid forms, it is generally soluble and stable in fully formulated systems. Niax silicone L-6186 may also be generally suitable for multiple applications, including spray, continuous or discontinuous type formulations.

More About Niax* Silicone L-6186

 As a premier urethane additive, Niax silicone L-6186 generally performs well with formulations with both high and low NCO indexes, based on polyether or polyester polyols. When formulating open-cell foam with Niax silicone L-6186, it is not typically necessary to use excess water to cause cell opening; therefore, it can also be used at 100 NCO index or above. Foam stabilization generally increases with increased usage of Niax silicone L-6186, thus allowing for delayed cell-opening time and producing finer, yet mainly open, cells. A typical starting level is 1% on the polyol side with up to 4% or more for finer cells or more stabilization effect.

  • Manufacturing open-cell, rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foam products by molding, injection, continuous process or spray application
