Silopren LSR 2725/40 is a two-component, self-lubricating, liquid silicone rubber for injection molding, offering robust primerless adhesion to a wide range of substrates, including PBT, without adhesion to the mold. Silopren LSR 2725/40 allows design and manufacturing of composite parts where the seal assembly is replaced by a direct overmolding onto the plastic substrate. The adhesion ensures the components remainin place, while the the lubrication functionality reduces assembly forces. This material is is broadly used in the manufactur of elastomeric articles requiring self-lubricating properties, such asseals for electrical connectors in the automotive industry.

The initial bond strength of Silopren* LSR 2725/40 allows for demolding, while full bond strength is reached after a period of storage at room temperature. Additionally, Silopren LSR 2725/40 is self-lubricating. The self-lubricating effect is achieved by a fluid which exudes from the vulcanizate over an extended period of time, andtypically starts between two and twenty-four hours after vulcanization. The material has a whitish appearance and can be easily pigmented with LSR color-pastes available from Momentive.
