 NASA Moon Boot Donation

Released Monday, December 20, 2010
In early December, Momentive Performance Materials Inc., donated a prized possession from its rich, 70-year heritage – a prototype of the moon boot used by NASA for the historic Apollo 11 mission, which landed man on the moon for the first time in July of 1969. Moon boots developed for NASA missions featured silicone rubber soles made possible by Momentive, then known as GE Silicones. The moon boot was presented to The Children’s Museum of Science and Technology in Troy, New York, by Momentive’s James Papa, Global Strategic Marketing Director and Dr. Samuel Conzone, Director of Transformational Growth.
